PSM’s 'Chaalu Dhivehiraajje' Awards Now Open for Public Voting

Public Service Media (PSM) has officially opened public voting for the inaugural 'Chaalu Dhivehiraajje' Awards, a prestigious initiative designed to celebrate and recognise the dedication of Maldivian island communities in safeguarding the nation's environment and championing its rich cultural heritage.
Fifty islands across the archipelago have submitted their candidacies for the awards, competing across seven distinct categories. These categories aim to highlight diverse aspects of community excellence, including:
The most beautiful beach
The friendliest community
Innovative thinking in sustainable development
The most environmentally friendly island
The most responsible island for local tourism
The best island destination
The most beautiful island of the year
The initial round of voting will determine the top five islands in each category.
The 'Chaalu Dhivehiraajje' Awards were introduced by PSM with the overarching goal of fostering a strong sense of patriotism within island communities, encouraging the adoption of sustainable practices, and promoting the vibrant tourism sector.
PSM aims to recognise the significant achievements of these communities on a national platform.
Citizens wishing to cast their votes can do so through the PSM Air mobile application. The voting window is now open and will close on Tuesday, 15 February 2026.
