Police has begun investigating a case of performing the Maldivian folk-dance, 'Bandiya Jehun' inside a mosque in Raa atoll Meedhoo, located in the North Central Province of Maldives and making a TikTok video of the performance inside the premises of the mosque.
A media official of the police stated that the TikTok user who was dancing in the mosque was a woman from the group of people who attended the Eid show held in the island.
Meedhoo Police Station is currently investigating the case.
The social media footage shows the woman dancing in the Old Meedhoo Friday Mosque, which is still in use, with a bouquet and a 'Bandiya' (traditional metal pot).
The TikTok also shows the woman filling the Bandiya with water from the well inside the mosque used for ablution and walking away.
