Abdulla Rasheed, President of the HA. Utheemu Council, has secured his seat for a fourth consecutive term, it has been confirmed.
Currently serving his third term, Rasheed will continue his leadership following the conclusion of the nomination process for the upcoming 2026 Local Council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) elections, in which no other candidates filed to contest the presidency of the Utheemu Council.
A long-standing supporter of the PPM/PNC political ideology, Rasheed contested the election under the PNC ticket.
Ibrahim Shujau, Member of Parliament for the Baarashu constituency—which includes Utheemu—extended his congratulations to Rasheed in a social media post today.
“Congratulations to the President-elect of the HA. Utheemu Council, Abdulla Rasheed. With the help of Almighty Allah, I am confident that under the leadership of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and during Abdulla Rasheed’s presidency, the people of Utheemu will reach new heights of development,” Shujau stated.
Speaking to Thiladhun regarding the outcome, Rasheed attributed his success to the boundless mercy of Almighty Allah. He also said that the continued trust placed in him by the people of Utheemu serves as his greatest motivation to carry out his responsibilities.
