The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure has awarded the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) 14 infrastructural development projects across 14 islands, with a total value of USD 104 million.
The contracts include land reclamation, beach protection, road development and harbour development projects.
Dredging and beach protection projects were awarded for islands across Haa Alifu, Noonu, Dhaalu, and Gaafu Alifu Atolls, including Vashafaru, Hen’badhoo, Holhudhoo, Maalhendhoo, Bandidhoo, Kanduhulhudhoo, and the Alifushi Industrial Zone in Raa Atoll. Additionally, beach protection projects were awarded for Gaafaru, Maafaru and Filladhoo.
Other contracts include the development of Ungoofaaru harbour in Raa Atoll, the development of an artificial beach in Ihavandhoo, the second phase of road development in Fares Mathoda, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, and harbour-related works in Muraidhoo of Haa Alifu Atoll.
