Sheikh Ali Zahir has said that measures should be taken against Maldivians calling for gay rights in the social media.
Condemning the open calls to homosexuality on social media by some Maldivians, Sheikh Ali Zahir said that Islamic teachings and moral values cannot be violated on the claims of freedom of speech and expression.
Sheikh Ali Zahir said that the constitution of Maldives only gives the freedom to express oneself within the boundaries set by Islam without violating any tenets of Islam.
The sheikh stressed that the authorities should take adequate measures against such people who call to such acts.
