We hope that donated motorcycles will enhance efficiency of MPS to better serve both Maldivians and tourists- China

Chinese Ambassador Wang Fukang has said that he hopes that the motorcycles donated to Maldives Police Service will further enhance the efficiency and capabilities of Maldives Police Service to better serve both Maldivians and foreign tourists.
The Chinese Ambassador made this remark speaking at the Handover Ceremony of 150 Police Motorcycles Aided by the Government of the People’s Republic of China.
Ambassador Wang said that the he is particularly happy that the majority of these motorcycles will be sent to police stations in different island, and enable better service of the Police for people in the islands.
He said that he came to understand that Maldives Police Service are in lack of proper motorcycles to carry out their duties during his first meeting held with the Commissioner of Police on January last year.
The Ambassador revealed that the 150 motorcycles which we are donating today are based to the discussion between the two governments and aimed at enhancing the legal enforcement capabilities of Maldives.
He added that since the meeting with the Commissioner, he coordinated from his side to seek possibility of getting Chinese donation to solve this problem.
“In August, during President Yameen’s visit to China, the two sides signed the letter of exchange to confirm the donation. And today, exactly 1 year after our first discussion, we are very happy to have shipped, assembled and delivered these 150 motorcycles to MPS,” he said.
