"This is not my appeal" – Ex-President Nasheed

Though the Prosecutor General has appealed High Court regarding the 13 year prison sentence handed over to the former president Mohamed Nasheed، the appeal is not of his request، former president Nasheed said.
Former President made the remark during the hearing held today at the High Court.
The case has been presented for consideration of an appeal at High Court from Prosecutor General’s office.
Speaking at the pre-trial hearing held today at the High Court state attorney Husham Wajeeh said that the state had filed the appeal as the defence had flagged “procedural irregularities” during the trial and to ensure that justice had been served.
Responding to the state attorney، former president said that ‘today is a historic day’ as the appeal by the state is a ‘complain against judicial system’.
Furthermore، former president ‘expressed gratitude’ to support the cause to ensure a constitutional leadership by filing the case.
Ex-president Nasheed visited the court under the supervision of Correctional Services، while the hearing had already started. In addition to Mr. Nasheed، members in his advocate team had also presented themselves to today’s hearing.
Various supporters of MDP and Nasheed had also gathered near the premises of High Court to protest against the state and urged to release their leader.
