Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has informed that former President Mohamed Nasheed has included two lawyers from the UK in his legal team.
The two lawyers are Sir Ivan Lawrence QC and Barrister Ali Mohammed Azhar.
Sir Ivan Lawrence has 23 years of experience in the UK Parliament, and has worked with UK’s Division Court and Court of Appeal. He is also one of the 33 members of the Five Pump Chambers.
Barrister Ali Mohammed Azhar, according to MDP, has worked extensively at high level UK Courts, and has experience in criminal defence as well as prosecutions.
It has not been possible to clarify which law firms the two lawyers were hired from, or how much will be spent as lawyer fees for them.
