“Nurses are the force that links the entire healthcare system. They are the eyes, ears and helping hands of every successful healthcare facility. These words of wisdom – ‘save one life, you’re a hero. Save a hundred lives, you’re a nurse’ – this is a nod to the nobleness of the loyal and valuable services of nurses,” he said.
In his address, President Muizzu noted that women make up for 92 percent of nurses in the Maldives – something that he said reflects the valuable role women play in providing humanitarian services in the country.
Highlighting on his administration’s vision to expand and modernize the Maldivian healthcare system, President Muizzu said the country needs more nurses to make this vision a reality.
He added that his administration also aims to increase the number of Maldivian nurses in the country’s healthcare system.
President Muizzu said that nurses tirelessly undertake a great responsibility on a daily basis, often sacrificing their family life in their pursuit of caring for patients.

This administration will recognize the value of the great responsibility that nurses tirelessly undertake like never before, he said.
He also said that his administration will actively listen to the concerns of nurses and take appropriate action, and that improving the benefits available to nurses would be a key priority.
“For patients, nurses are their friend, their family and their whole world. Half of the cure for any disease is the compassionate care patients get from nurses. Nursing is a noble pursuit where the spiritual rewards, blessings, and the good will and heartfelt prayers they get far outweighs any salary,” he said.
“Words fall short in expressing gratitude for the valuable national duty that nurses undertake.”
