Minister of Tourism and Environment, Thoriq Ibrahim has stressed on the need for the country’s tourism industry to keep up with latest global trends to maintain its position as one of the top tourist destinations in the world.
The Minister made these remarks during the graduation ceremony of a tourism training programme conducted by Patina Maldives, Fari Islands resort.
Speaking during the ceremony, Minister Thoriq said this training programme initiated by Patina Maldives will pave the way for educated and experienced youths in the tourism industry. The Minister hailed it as an important step for the development of the tourism sector in the Maldives.
The Minister highlighted the need, especially for the youth to innovate, keep with the ever changing global trends and technology in order to shape the path forward.
This, according to Minister Thoriq, is pivotal to Maldives maintaining its position as one of the top tourist destinations in the world.
"We must always learn new things and believe that we can always do better. This is the way to maintain our position as the most popular tourist destination. Maldives is renowned for the kind and complete hospitality of its people," he said.
A dozen students graduated after completing three years of training conducted by Patina Maldives, which included half in room service and the other half in food and beverage service.
This diploma level training programme is accredited by the EHL Hospitality Business School in Switzerland.
