The project to reclaim land required for the development of an airport and housing in HA. Dhidhdhoo commenced today.
The project was officially inaugurated by Minister of Finance Moosa Zameer during a ceremony held in Dhidhdhoo this evening.
The ceremony was also attended by the Member of Parliament for the Dhidhdhoo constituency, Abdul Latheef Mohamed (Latheebe), and the Managing Director of Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), Ibrahim Shareef.
The dredger being utilized for this reclamation project is noted as one of the largest in the world. The vessel, a Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger named *Leiv Eiriksson*, has a capacity of 46,000 cubic meters. Dhidhdhoo on February 25th, where he reaffirmed his commitment to fulfilling the pledges made to the island during the presidential election.
