His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has extended greetings and congratulations on behalf of the Government and the people of the Maldives in letters addressed to His Excellency Alar Karis, President of the Republic of Estonia, and His Excellency Kristen Michal, Prime Minister of the Republic of Estonia, on the occasion of Estonia’s Independence Day.
In his letter to President Karis, President Dr Muizzu described the occasion as a defining chapter reflecting the resilience and unity of the Estonian people, and affirmed that the Maldives values its friendly and constructive relations with Estonia, adding that his official visit to Tallinn last year formed part of ongoing engagement and provided a valuable opportunity for meaningful exchanges on matters of mutual interest. He expressed his commitment to further strengthening the partnership with Estonia in the years ahead.
In his letter to Prime Minister Michal, President Dr Muizzu acknowledged the vision and determination that have shaped Estonia’s development and achievements. He noted that exchanges between the two countries reflect a shared commitment to maintaining close and productive ties.
The President concluded his letters by conveying his best wishes for the continued good health and well-being of the Estonian leadership, and for the lasting peace and continued progress of the people of Estonia.
President Dr Muizzu also reiterated these sentiments in a post on X, wishing the people of Estonia a joyful day and a prosperous year ahead.
Estonia’s Independence Day, observed annually on 24 February, commemorates the 1918 Declaration of Independence, which established the Republic of Estonia.
