The Minister of Cities, Local Government and Public Works, Adam Shareef Umar said that the abolishment of atoll council offices will not impede services provided to the islands and atolls.
Minister Adam Shareef made the remarks speaking at a press conference at the President’s Office. The minister said upon the abolishment of atoll offices, branches of Local Government Authority (LGA) will be established.
He reiterated that the abolishment of the atoll officers will not have an impact on the services provided to local communities, which he said will remain unchanged. Furthermore, he assured all employees that their jobs will not be adversely affected due to the change.
“Services will continue unchanged. These include ID card services and other basic services. Employees will not face any adverse consequences. All resources and assets will be transferred to the new office,” minister said.
Addressing a question raised by a journalist during the press conference, minister said that the revenue collections from atoll stores located in Male’ city will also be received without any changes.
