Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) said it is inviting industry partners to express interest in participating in a series of additional international travel trade fairs scheduled for the remaining months of 2026 across several strategic markets.
The move comes as authorities closely monitor the evolving situation in the Middle East, a region that has traditionally been an important source market for Maldives’ tourism. VMC said, they are taking “proactive steps” to mitigate any potential impact on the sector.
In a statement, VMC said it remained committed to safeguarding the tourism industry while supporting partners through changing market dynamics.
As part of its response, the organisation is increasing engagement in alternative and emerging markets, with the aim of boosting destination visibility and diversifying visitor sources.
The expanded schedule includes major travel trade fairs in countries such as Azerbaijan, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, China, Thailand, Indonesia, India, Bangladesh, Turkey, Italy, Mexico and Uzbekistan. Among the listed events are ITB China in Shanghai, ILTM Asia in Singapore, ITB India in Mumbai, and ITB Asia, also in Singapore. These are some of the region’s most prominent travel industry gatherings.
Visit Maldives said the fairs would provide opportunities for tourism stakeholders to connect with international partners, promote the destination, and strengthen business relationships. Tourism remains the backbone of the Maldives economy, and officials say maintaining a strong global presence is key to ensuring continued growth and resilience in an increasingly competitive and uncertain environment.
