Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Abdulla Khaleel and Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi have reaffirmed the commitment of both nations to deepen their longstanding friendship, enhance economic cooperation, and continue close collaboration on regional and multilateral issues.
During a meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday, Foreign Minister Dr Khaleel welcomed State Minister and his delegation to the Maldives, and expressed gratitude to the leadership and the Government of Qatar for the continued support extended to the Maldives.
Foreign Minister Dr Khaleel and State Minister Muraikhi reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen the ties of friendship between the two countries, grounded in shared Islamic values, mutual respect, and close bilateral cooperation.  
Discussions also centred on expanding economic cooperation between the two countries through trade and investment, tourism, higher education, fisheries and agriculture. The Ministers also noted that the close connectivity between the Maldives and Qatar facilitates easier travel and strengthens people-to-people contact. 
Both Ministers also expressed their commitment to continued close cooperation at the multilateral level, with a shared dedication to promoting peace, progress, and sustainable development.
Minister Dr Khaleel commended Qatar’s steadfast leadership in supporting the Palestinian cause and reiterated the Maldives’ firm solidarity with the people of Palestine. 
The meeting concluded with both sides expressing confidence that ties between the Maldives and Qatar will continue to strengthen in the years ahead, bringing lasting benefits to the peoples of both countries. It also highlighted the renewed momentum in bilateral relations, and the shared commitment to build on this solid foundation for the future.
Foreign Minister Dr. Khaleel was accompanied to the meeting by Foreign Secretary Fathimath Inaya, Secretary Dr Hala Hameed, Ambassador-at–Large Abdullah Hameed, Additional Secretary Khadeeja Najeeha and Deputy Desk Officer, Fathmath Layana Ihusan.
