Man arrested in the attack on President Nasheed
Police has said that one of the two people the Interpol has a red notice out regarding the attack on Mahfooz Saeed, a lawyer of the former President Mohamed Nasheed’s legal team, has been arrested. Talking to Sun Media, the Police Media Official said that they arrested 20-year-old Ahmed Raaid. The Police did not say when or where he was arrested from. Police said that the Criminal Court extended his remand by 15 days when he was taken to court today. The rumors on some media about seeing Ahmed Raaid at Sosun Villa in Colombo has been denied by an official from Sosun Villa. The other person to whom a red notice has been issued against is Hussain Shafraz Ibrahim (R. Inguraidhoo). Lawyer Mahfooz was stabbed around 5:20 p.m. on 4 September 2015 while he was in the backseat of a motorcycle on Maaveyo Magu, by two people on another motorcycle.
