Former president Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has called on the current administration to expedite the completion of the projects initiated during his five-year administration to develop Maldives’ fisheries sector.
Solih, via a post on X on the occasion of National Fishermen’s Day, underscored the importance of the swift completion of major projects initiated during the last administration to develop the fisheries sector.
In this regard, he urged the current administration to expedite the completion of fisheries projects initiated by the last administration, emphasizing that funding is already in place. Solid added that these projects would bring positive change to most issues facing the sector.
The former president then went onto convey greetings on the National Fishermen’s Day to fishermen, fisher families and individuals working in the fisheries sector.
Some of the notable initiatives by the last administration to develop the fisheries sector include bringing in boats via state fisheries company, MIFCO, for easier arrangements for fishermen to weigh their catches and the development of new ice plants.
