Information has been received that the Criminal Court has issued orders to arrest former President Mohamed Nasheed and former Defence Minister Thalhath Ibrahim.
Commissioner of Police Abdulla Riyaz said today that the Court has issued a warrant to arrest Nasheed and Thalhath, following a Police request.
He said that the Police can decide whether to act on a Court warrant or not, and that a warrant is different from a Court Order.
Riyaz did not indicate if the Police intend to act on this warrant.

Former President Nasheed is currently at his residence, G. Keneryge. He said that an order has been issued by Criminal Court to arrest him, however he has not yet been informed of this. He said that he will not accept such an order, and that the Court and its Judges are not legitimate. He is currently giving an interview to foreign media.
