One year to Fertility Center: 23 couples conceive through IVF, two give birth

23 couples who received treatment from the National Fertility Center conceived through in vitro fertilization (IVF), according to statistics shared by the facility.
The statistics were shared during a ceremony held on Tuesday to mark the Fertility Center’s one-year anniversary.
According to the information, 578 couples consulted at the center in the one year since it opened at the Dharumavantha Hospital.
96 couples were selected for IVF, out of which 23 couple successfully conceived, and two gave birth.
The first child conceived through IVF at the center was born on January 7.
Expanding the Aasandha health insurance scheme to cover fertility treatment services, including IVF and intrauterine insemination (IUI), was an electoral pledge made by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu during his 2023 campaign.
The National Fertility Center officially opened in November 2024.
