The “Rakka Road Show,” a police-led initiative aimed at strengthening road safety, security, and public awareness, has officially commenced in Haa Alif Atoll and Haa Dhaalu Atoll.
Running from February 7 to 12, the program is being carried out in collaboration with Road Safety Awareness and Prevention and the Upper North Police.
Traffic Monitors Program for Students
A key component of the Rakka Road Show is the Traffic Monitors Program, designed for students from five schools across the two atolls. Participating schools include Jalaluddin School, HDh. Atoll Education Centre, Afeefuddin School, HA. Ihavandhoo School, and HA. Atoll School.
A total of 154 students are taking part in the program.
Under this initiative, students will receive hands-on training in traffic management within school zones. The program aims to familiarize students with land transport laws and regulations while fostering a culture that prioritizes road safety from an early age. In addition, students will be trained in self-defense, team-building activities, and effective communication with proper etiquette.
Awareness Sessions for Parents and Drivers
Beyond student engagement, the Rakka Road Show also includes dedicated information sessions for parents and taxi drivers. These sessions focus on road safety, security concerns, and key legal responsibilities that require public attention.
“Fahi Raastha” Program Implemented in Kulhudhuffushi
As part of the broader Rakka initiative, the “Fahi Raastha” program has already been conducted in Kulhudhuffushi City. Through this program, police officers engaged directly with residents across various areas of the city to carry out road safety awareness activities.
The Rakka Road Show is part of a continuing series of initiatives aimed at building long-term awareness and strengthening road safety and security among students and the wider community.
