A total of 344 students graduated from the Maldives National Service programme on Sunday.
The graduation ceremony was held in Lh. Maafilaafushi, and was honored by Defence Minister Ghassan Maumoon. All 344 students who completed the National Service Course were awarded certificates of completion.
In addition, students who met the required standard received Certificate III in Civic Education and Leadership. According to officials, 96 percent of participants achieved this qualification.
Presenting the course report, Chief Instructor of the National Service Training Centre, Lt. Col. Mohamed Shafiu, said 350 students from 108 islands had enrolled in the programme. The batch included 64 female and 286 male students, with an average age of 18.
Shafiu said the training covered nationalism and responsible citizenship, language proficiency, leadership, Islamic studies, physical training, watermanship drill, first aid, firefighting, self‑defence, and camp activities. He noted that the subjects were taught by MNDF instructors as well as relevant government ministries.
The National Service Programme is a key initiative of President Mohamed Muizzu, aimed at building a strong, capable young generation through structured training and education.
Among the programme’s objectives are reviving nationalism and pride among youth, nurturing a citizenry that loves Islam, and preparing young people to serve the nation with determination in times of major threats and disasters.
