His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has extended warm greetings to His Excellency Xi Jinping, President of the People's Republic of China, and His Excellency Li Qiang, Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, on the occasion of Chinese New Year.
In his letter to President Xi Jinping, President Dr Muizzu reflected on the spirit of vitality, determination and forward momentum symbolised by the Year of the Fire Horse, noting that it reflects resilience and purposeful progress. He expressed confidence that the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership between the two countries will continue to deepen, advancing common objectives as trusted partners and close friends in development.
In his letter to Premier Li Qiang, the President highlighted the strong ties of friendship and cooperation between the Maldives and China, expressing confidence that the dynamic year ahead will open new avenues for collaboration and mutual benefit.
In both letters, President Dr Muizzu reaffirmed the Maldives' steadfast adherence to the One-China Principle and its high regard for the relationship grounded in mutual respect and trust.
He further extended personal best wishes for the good health and happiness of both leaders, and for the continued advancement and enduring prosperity of the people of China.
On his official X account, the President also acknowledged the remarkable heights of development China has achieved over the years, wishing its people even brighter days ahead.
Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, marks the beginning of the lunar new year and is widely celebrated across China and Chinese communities worldwide.
