His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu extended congratulations on behalf of the Government and the people of the Maldives to Her Excellency Sanae Takaichi, Prime Minister of Japan, on her recent re-election as Prime Minister.
In his letter to the Prime Minister, the President emphasised that her renewed confirmation by the National Diet, with a strong mandate, reflects the confidence placed in her leadership and vision for Japan's future.
The President conveyed that as the two countries approach the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2027, the Maldives fondly recalls the generous support of the government of Japan towards the socio-economic development of the Maldives, which continues to be deeply appreciated by the people of the Maldives.
He expressed his confidence that, as the Prime Minister begins a new term in office, the relationship between the two countries will continue to translate shared values into meaningful cooperation that benefits the peoples of both countries.
