New Term of Bar Council Executive Committee Begins with Fresh Leadership

The Maldives Bar Council’s Executive Committee has officially commenced its new term today, marking a change in leadership and membership following the conclusion of several members’ terms.
As outlined in the Legal Profession Act, members of the Executive Committee serve for three years, with a maximum of two terms permitted for any member other than the President. The terms of Vice President Ustaza Mizna Ahmed and Executive Committee member Ustaz Ahmed Muizz concluded as they completed two consecutive terms. Additionally, members Ustaza Deena Hussain, Ustaz Ibrahim Shameel, and Ustaz Sadih Naseer concluded their first three-year terms.
In the newly formed committee, Ustaz Ibrahim Shameel has been elected as Vice President, replacing Mizna Ahmed. Mohamed Shafeeu, Mohamed Azmi, Abdullah Nahid, and Ahmed Shafiu have joined as new Executive Committee members.
The Bar Council Executive Committee now comprises President Ustaz Hussain Siraj, Vice President Ibrahim Shameel, and the four newly elected members.
This transition aligns with the Bar Council’s mandate to ensure continuity and fresh perspectives in its governance structure.
