Ali Waheed is abroad fearing charges of terrorism: Ibu

Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Parliamentary Group (PG) Leader Ibrahim Mohamed Solih (Ibu) has stated that the Party’s Chairperson is presently abroad as he fears that the Government would seek to press terror charges against him.
He proclaimed this speaking to the participants of the mass rally held Friday night.
Ibu stated that with the present rule, there was no room for difference of opinion and that those who had differing opinions had no other choice but to flee the country, with the threat of terrorism charges directed against them.
He noted that this was the case facing MDP Chairperson Ali Waheed, Jumhooree Party (JP) Leader Qasim Ibrahim and JP Deputy Leader Ameen Ibrahim and JP Foreign and Public Relations in charge Sobah Rasheed.
Ibu stated that the democracy, assured in the Constitution was diminishing and in place, a dictatorial regime was gearing to take over the nation.
He added that there was no justice within the judicial system and stated that most Government institutions had failed to observe their legal mandate. Ibu noted that nearly all of the Government institutions were politicized.
Therefore, Ibu stated that it was the civic duty of every citizen to ensure that the status of the nation was secure.
Ibu announced that the Friday night rally was part of a consecutive rallies to be held. However, the protest was halted around 3.45 am.
