SME Digital’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Badhurudheen Hassan has said small businesses are key contributors to economic development.
He made the remark in a message issued on the occasion of MSME Day, highlighting the value of small and medium enterprises.
In his message, Badhurudheen said that every business supports families, communities, and the wider economy.
On the occasion of MSME Day, SME Digital organised a series of events, including the MSME Fest 2026 event held in Hulhumale’ Central Park in collaboration with the Ministry of Economic Development, Transport and Trade, the Business Centre Corporation (BCC). Around 30 businesses are participating in this event with dedicated stalls.
Public Service Media (PSM) is also hosting a special telethon on TVM from 10:30 am to 11:00 pm on the occasion of the day. The telethon’s focus is to share information on small businesses.
SME Digital has also launched social media campaigns including the “Tag Your Favorite MSME” campaign offering cash prizes. “CaptureMSME” photography competition showcasing the role of SMEs in society is also ongoing. An MSME Day awareness programme involving SME Digital, Bank of Maldives, Huraa Council, and BCC is also scheduled to be held.
