The opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) held a rally this evening in capital Male’ City، calling to release the former president Mohamed Nasheed، Adhaalath Party leader Sheikh Imran Abdulla and former defence minister Colonel Rtd. Mohamed Nazim.
With several hundred protesters، the opposition MDP held the rally in the streets of capital Male’، calling to free the jailed and detained politicians، and calling to the government to obey the decision of the UN.
The rally، participated by senior officials of the party، also called on the United Nations to restore peace and stability in the Maldives، which are being violated by the incumbent government.
Furthermore، during the rally، MDP announced that the mass protest on 6th November would be the biggest protest in the Maldives history. The party further announced that they will be holding gatherings and rallies from Sunday onwards، until ex-president Nasheed is released.
The rally was concluded at the junction of Medhuziyaaraiy Magu and Fareedhee Magu. No unrest occurred during or after the rally.
