INIA Welcomes Silk Air to Maldives

Silk Air, the regional wing of Singapore Airline launched its inaugural flight to Maldives from Changi Airport in Singapore on 26th October 2015 at 1212hrs.
A warm traditional Boduberu with water salute welcomed Silk Air’s B737 today at Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (INIA).
An official function was held today afternoon at INIA’s Maamahi Executive Lounge to welcome Silk Air. The function was joined by Minister of Economic Development Minister Mr. Mohamed Saeed, the Managing Director of Maldives Airports Ltd and Chief Executive Officer of Maldives Civil Aviation Mr. Hussain Jaleel. From Silk Air, Senior Manager of Regional office Mr. Wilson Tan along with Singapore Airlines General Manager Mr. Eddie Leong joined the function. And also staff of MACL and Singapore airlines along with government institutions attended the function.
At the function the Economic Minister emphasized the development of INIA and Maldives being in the forefront of tourist attraction in the world map.
The Managing Director of Maldives Airports Company Ltd Mr. Adil Moosa said that Silk Air flights would open up a whole new market via Singapore from the east and would add value to INIA.
Senior Manager of Regional Office of Silk Air Mr. Wilson said that his airline will provide good service to passengers and hopes for more frequencies if market condition is good.
MACL and Silk Air exchanged corporate gifts and an official photo shoot was held at the function. The function was concluded with refreshment.
Silk Air will be operating four times weekly to Maldives.
