Preliminary results for all constituencies except Nilandhoo announced

Elections Commission has announced the preliminary results for all constituencies except Faafu Nilandhoo.
The preliminary results for the 84 constituencies were announced at a ceremony at Elections Commission tonight (Tuesday).
Media Official of Elections Commission Aishath Shifana told Sun Online that the announcement of the result for Nilandhoo is delayed due to ongoing investigations of complaints filed in relation to Niladhoo election.
Shifana said that more details of the complaints will be given at a press conference on Thursday.
The result known so far shows that Nilandhoo election was won by independent candidate Abdulla Khaleel with 645 votes - one vote more than Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) candidate Abdul Muhsin, who received 644 votes.
Preliminary results announced by the commission show that the government coalition has won majority in the parliament.
PPM won 33 seats, while coalition parties Jumhooree Party (JP) and Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) won 15 and five seats respectively.
Also, opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) won 26 seats, Adhaalath Party won one seat, and independent candidates won five seats at the Parliamentary Election held on 22 March.
