The Prosecutor General’s Office has arranged for the defence to examine protected documents under an Evidence Protection Order.
Under an Evidence Protection Order, if in-court evidence inspection is not feasible, the trial judge can allow documents to be reviewed at the Prosecutor General’s Office or another approved public body. Accordingly, the Prosecutor General’s Office has made convenient arrangements such that the defence will be allowed to examine the documents under conditions set by the trial judge, effective from 26 April.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the process will follow established rules governing such orders. If the court orders for the evidence to be disclosed to defendant, a specific request form must be submitted to access the documents. The request form is available on the Prosecutor General’s Office website. Access to evidence will be granted only within the limits specified in the court order and at a designated location.
