Utheemu Reach Final, Maintain Unbeaten Record in Thilauthuru Futsal Tournament 2025

Utheemu, the host island of the Thilauthuru Futsal Tournament 2025 organized by the Haa Alifu Atoll Council, has secured a place in the final.
One of nine participating teams from Haa Alifu Atoll, Utheemu progressed to the final while preserving their unbeaten record. They defeated Dhidhdhoo 6–5 on penalties in last night’s semi-final, a result that also ended Dhidhdhoo’s own undefeated run.
In a closely contested match, Dhidhdhoo opened the scoring through Mohamed Naushad, before Utheemu’s Ahmed Aiham equalized. Dhidhdhoo regained the lead with a goal from Ali Shaam, but Utheemu again responded, this time through Mohamed Ailam.
With the match tied at full-time, the game went to penalties. Utheemu’s Abdullah Ilham, Aiham, Ailam and Rishwan converted their attempts, while Mohamed Shaamil missed his shot.
For Dhidhdhoo, Zunaam Mohamed, Mohamed Ashraf and Ibrahim Nawaf scored, but Naushad and Surakh missed, bringing their campaign to an end.
The first semi-final, played yesterday afternoon, was also settled by a penalty shootout. Defending champions Ihavandhoo were eliminated after a 2–3 loss to Muridhoo, with neither side managing to score during regular time.
The final between Muridhoo and Utheemu is scheduled for tomorrow night at 20:30.
This year’s tournament is being played in two groups. Group A consists of Ihavandhoo, Utheemu, Vashafaru, Filladhoo and Hoarafushi. Group B includes Dhidhdhoo, Muridhoo, Baarah and Kelaa.
The islands from Haa Alifu Atoll not participating this year are Molhadhoo, Thuraakunu, Uligamu, Thakandhoo and Maarandhoo.
