Azaan seeks to question Minister on lack of cardiology services in Addu

Central Hithadhoo MP Ahmed Azaan has sought to question Health Minister Abdulla Nazim regarding the lack of cardiology services in Addu City, where there is an alarmingly high rate of heart diseases in the southernmost Maldivian city.
Azaan has raised concerns over the lack of cardiology services at Addu’s hospital. In this regard, he detailed that although a cath lab has been established at the hospital, it has yet to be operationalized.
As such, he sought to question the Health Minister regarding the delays.
According to Azaan, many individuals who suffered from heart attacks and other heart diseases in Addu City over the past three years were not treated in the city but rather transported to Male’.
He emphasized the importance of establishing arrangements in the city to treat such patients.
Addu City, home to the second largest population in the Maldives after the capital Malé, continues to receive substandard basic services. Among the most pressing issues is the frequent power interruptions, which have persisted for months without a lasting solution from the utility provider.
