Two foreign fishing boats operating within the Maldives’ Special Economic Zone (SEZ) have been detained by the Maldives National Defence Force’s Coast Guard vessel, Huravee.
The two vessels, both of Sri Lankan origin, were intercepted during an operation conducted within the SEZ on 22 June. The vessels are now being brought to Male’ for further investigation by Maldives Police Service, the MNDF said.
