Defense Minister Adam Shareef Umar have said that the most assistance to MNDF and to the Maldives in general is given by India.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of Dosti 13 the military training program, the Minister said that Indian assistance can be seen from all areas of Maldivian military.
The minister noted that the Indian army gives a lot of training opportunities to MNDF and also highlighted the training facilities constructed in Lhaviyani Atoll, Maafilaafushi by India and also the 10-story coast guard building to be built by the Indian government.
In addition, Adam Shareef spoke about the assistance given to Maldives by India in the past, such as the military intervention on 3rd November, aid after tsunami, various coast guard vessels and the helicopters donated to MNDF.
He further said that India assists Maldives each and every time when Maldives is in need.
Adam Shareef also mentioned the aids given by Sri Lanka as well. He said that the Sri Lankan government also assists in various training programs.
