Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) filed a lawsuit against former lawmaker of Kaashidhoo constituency and current advisor to Former President Mohamed Nasheed, Abdulla Jabir’s Yacht Tours company to find USD 3 million owed to the state.
Jabir’s Yacht Tours is dragged to court over not paying the rent and fines of Alidhoo Resort and the two sand banks of Beenafushi and Kandaali Finolhu leased to the company.
While Jabir has declined that his company owes any amount to the state, MIRA has already frozen the accounts of Yacht Tours under their enforcement policy.
Previously, the state had taken back Beenfushi and Kandaali Finolhu from Yacht Tours, a decision favored by the Civil Court.
In addition to Yacht Tours, MIRA has also filed lawsuits against business tycoon Qasim Ibrahim’s Villa Company over USD 37 million owed  to the state.
