The second stock of the new, lighter 2 Rufiyaa coins that are set to begin use have been received and stored.
Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) brought the first stock of coins in early May 2017.
A statement issued by MMA today said that the second shipment was received on 10 July 2017 and has been stored.
Spokesperson of MMA, Mansoor Zubair told Sun Media that the second stock of the new, lighter coins of 2 Rufiyaa have been received and is going to be inaugurated into the economy very soon. However he did not say as to a date it will be inaugurated.
MMA is yet to release any information on the design or any other features. The only available information is that it would be lighter in weight.
