The order came after the state appealed the ruling of the Thimarafushi magistrate court that ordered the release of Ahmed Fuad from Guraidhoo who had been serving as the station manager of its power station in the island. Police had said the 47-year-old arrested last week under a warrant was accused of molesting a 17-year-old girl and a 13-year-old boy. The victims are believed to have been in the guardianship of Fuad, a senior activist of the government-aligned Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).
