Mohamed Ismail: Nasheed

MP for the Hoarafushi constituency, MDA’s, Mohamed Ismail has said that the former President Mohamed Nasheed who is serving a 13-year prison sentenced was moved to house arrest permanently, not under a deal made between the Government and the MDP.
Speaking on Sun TV’s “50 Minute” program, MP Mohamed Ismail said that moving President Nasheed to house arrest permanently today was a coincidence.
“…I don’t believe at all that we made a deal with them (MDP) or change the former president Nasheed to home was done under a deal.” MP Ismail said.
He said that President Nasheed was transferred to house arrest after submitting doctor’s certificates to relevant institutes. And that is his Constitutional right.
“…when the doctors advise against keeping him (President Nasheed) in prison, not just him, anyone would be transferred to house arrest after considering the circumstances.” MP Ismail said.
After President Nasheed was transferred to house arrest to serve out the rest of his sentence, different political figures are criticizing saying that it was arrange under a “deal” made between by the Government and MDP.
