"Detaining the judge; ordered by Nasheed، operation by Didi" – Tholhath

The order to detain criminal court chief justice Abdulla Mohamed in 2012 was given by the then President Mohamed Nasheed، and the operation was carried out by the then MNDF Male’ Area Commander Brigadier General Ibrahim Mohamed Didi، stated the then Defence Minister Tholhath Ibrahim Kileygefaanu.
Tholhath has denied the terrorism accusations raised by the State against him.
Tholhath’s defence attorney stated during tonight’s hearing at the Criminal Court that President Nasheed planned and executed the arrest of Judge Abdulla Mohamed، as the head of defence force.
Furthermore، the attorney stated that although Tholhath had confessed Judge Abdulla Mohamed was kept in Girifushi under the custody of the army، he had not given any instruction or any orders regarding the arrest and overseeing of the custody of Judge Abdulla.
Upon denying the charges، Tholhath was asked by the court to present the evidence. The attorney has stated during the hearing that they had already asked for the audio recording of Nasheed، and it will be presented as soon as the authorities provide it to them. Criminal Court has granted Tholhath the opportunity.
