Former President، and leader of the democrats، Mohamed Nasheed (Anni) has claimed that we are witnessing a leadership nearing end.
Speaking at MDP’s event held on Saturday night at the carnival area، Nasheed said that while the country is currently in dangerous predicament، with peace unmaintained، and security being compromised، we are seeing the President [Yameen] traveling abroad.
Nasheed said that during the onset of former President Maumoon’s presidency، we saw attempts at defaming the previous President Ibrahim Nasir through various songs، and that today we are seeing the same sight.
Moreover، Nasheed said that if the reason for President Yameen’s absence was indeed health-related، then he wouldn’t be making this claim،
“The President’s Office says he is well. I would like to say to the president، nobody would be more concerned about his wellbeing than us.”، he added.
Furthermore، Nasheed said that we are seeing the president having stepped aside from his duties and that MDP will always be ready to make the administration responsible.
Nasheed concluded by saying that we are seeing history repeat itself – the same way that President Ibrahim Nasir’s presidency came to an end، we are witnessing a leadership coming to a close.
President Yameen، on the other hand، returned to Male’ this morning after spending 10 days in Singapore with the first lady on an unofficial trip.
