Ali Waheed ‘not seen in the opposition gathering’

Despite announcing that he will partake in Sunday night’s opposition gathering، MDP Chairperson Ali Waheed – who was under police custody following Mayday unrest – was not seen in the gathering.
Ali Waheed was released after 24 days in Police detention، when Prosecutor General’s Office notified the Police they do not have any objection of releasing him.
MDP had earlier on Sunday announced that Ali Waheed will be attending the gathering to be held in the evening، after seeking medical attention. However، Ali Waheed did not show up even when the gathering concluded at 23:00 – the reason of his absence was not disclosed.
The opposition gathering was attended by three top officials of MDP; deputy leader Mohamed Shifaz، former Education Minister Dr. Musthafa Luthfee and deputy chairperson Ali Niyaz.
Ali Waheed had posted a tweet، including a verse from a Dhivehi song، that ‘he is back’.
