China has pledged to donate medical equipment and medical doctors for the development of health sector in Maldives.
Maldives conducted discussions with Lithuania and China for the development of the country’s health sector during the 136th Executive Board Meeting of WHO being held at Geneva.
Ministry of Health informed that، following the discussion with the Chinese delegation، China has assured to donate medical equipment and professional doctors to develop the health sector in Maldives.
The discussion with China mainly highlighted the scholarships to be granted for medical doctors، Chinese medial professionals conducting medical camps in Maldives، donation of medical equipment and expanding Chinese Medical Tourism in Maldives.
The official talks with Lithuanian delegation focused on establishing a MoU to carry out discussions to tackle the current obstruction in health sector faced as bothcountries share similarities in sizes. Furthermore، the two countries has discussed to recruit Lithuanian doctors and medical professionals in Maldives.
The delegation from Maldives which participated in the talks consists of Minister at President’s Office Mohamed Hussain Shareef، State Minister of Health Hussain Rasheed، Deputy Director General at Health Ministry Aishath Saamiya and Director at Health Protection Agency Maimoona Aboobakr.
