Government offices reopen tomorrow, new academic year begins Monday

Government offices across the Maldives will reopen tomorrow following a two week closure for the last 10 days of Ramadan and the Eid holidays.
This marks the end of a long break for government employees, with official duties set to resume as usual.
While government offices are reopening tomorrow, the new academic year for schools will begin on Monday.
Schools closed for the annual holidays on February 27, giving students a break of about 40 days. Typically, schools reopen on Sundays, but due to the timing of the Eid holidays this year, the start of the academic year has been pushed to Monday instead.
Teachers have already begun reporting to schools today in preparation for the new academic year.
According to the academic calendar released by the Ministry of Education, the first term holidays will begin on July 24, with the second term scheduled to start on August 10.
The academic year is set to end on December 28.
Following this, schools will go on their annual break from December 28, 2025, to January 27, 2026.
The ministry had earlier stated that starting next year, the annual school holiday will begin in December.
