Authorities have begun search for Su Xiaoning, a 30-year-old Chinese woman who went missing after arriving in the country on a tourist visa on October 13 last year.
The family of Su Xiaoning, who has not been in contact with her since her arrival, filed a complaint through the Chinese Embassy in the Maldives.
The case was submitted to the police last Wednesday and is being handled by the Serious and Organized Crime Investigation Department.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that Su Xiaoning checked out of her guesthouse on the morning of October 24, but there is no record of her leaving the country.
However, no information about the missing woman or her current whereabouts has been found so far, police said.
Police have urged anyone with information about Su Xiaoning to contact the Serious and Organized Crime Investigation duty number at 9911099.
