The "Blues Re-Training Programme 2026" has been launched to enhance professional knowledge, ethical standards, leadership skills, and operational capabilities.
This is the first Blues Re-Training Programme to be conducted in the history of the Maldives Police Service (MPS). The programme is organised by the Centre for Public Safety and Security Studies of the National College of Policing and Law Enforcement.
The five-day programme, which began on 18 July in Vaanee, Dhaalu Atoll, aims to better equip police officers to address the challenges of modern policing. According to the MPS, the initiative also seeks to support the development of a professional, accountable, and community-focused police service.
The programme includes modules on Internal Ethics, Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence, operational policing, scenario-based training, case studies, and team building. It also focuses on developing officers' ability to make timely and effective decisions in a range of situations, strengthen problem-solving skills, improve communication, and enhance teamwork.
The Maldives Police Service said the programme is an important initiative to support institutional development, encourage innovation, and build a professional, ethical, and highly skilled police force capable of responding to the demands of modern policing.
The first phase of the programme is targeted at police officers serving in the South Central Police Region, specifically those holding the ranks from Constable to Sub-Inspector of Police. A total of 98 police officers are taking part in the programme.
