First Lady Sajidha Mohamed has highlighted the importance of science, collaboration and sustainable practices in promoting healthier lives, in a message shared to mark World Health Day.
In a post on social media, the First Lady emphasised the role of evidence-based solutions in protecting communities and saving lives. She noted that science continues to play a vital role in shaping stronger and healthier societies.
The First Lady also pointed to the close connection between human health and the environment, stressing that wellbeing is closely linked to the health of the planet. She said addressing global challenges such as climate change, antimicrobial resistance and emerging diseases requires coordinated efforts across countries and disciplines.
Highlighting the need for continued progress, the First Lady called for greater commitment to advancing knowledge, investing in research and promoting healthier lifestyles. She added that collective action is essential to building a future where everyone has the opportunity to lead a healthier and more prosperous life.
World Health Day is observed annually on 7 April. This year’s theme is “Standing together with science for health”, with various activities set to take place around the world.
