The Chinese Ambassador to Maldives Wang Fukang has stated that the Laamu Link Road Project is an important witness of the profound friendship between Maldives and China.
Speaking at the ceremony held to inaugurate the ‎Road Development Project of Laamu atoll, the Chinese Ambassador said that the Project will surely become an important driving factor to promote the further economic prosperity in this region.
“This Project is also an important witness of the profound friendship between Maldives and China, on its completion this Project will become a real road of friendship, mutual cooperation, economic prosperity and development, it is of great significance to both Maldives and China,” he said.
Ambassador Fukang stated that the profound bilateral friendship between our two countries can go back to ancient times and enjoys a bright future.
“Maldives and China are traditional friendly neighbors, since the establishment of diplomatic relationship 42 years ago. Both sides have always been adhering to mutual respect, mutual trust and mutual support. Especially in the year of 2014, the state heads of our two countries successfully implemented the historic mutual visits within one month, which achieved the biggest breakthrough in the friendship history of Maldives and China, the bilateral traditional friendship has been further deepened. With the development of various cooperation between our two countries, the cooperation in the field of infrastructure became one of the highlights. After the completion of the project, it will no doubt once again become a new symbol of China-Maldives friendship after the Building of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, National Museum and the residential buildings aided by China, it will surely extend the “friendship road” much farther,” he said.
He said that the China and the Maldives have a common development goal, Chinese people and the people of Maldives also share a common progress dream.
“During his visit to Maldives, his Excellency Chairman Xi Jinping, put forward that China is willing to share the development opportunities with Maldives to achieve win-win cooperation and common development. In the history the Silk Road on sea had ever facilitated the communication between China and Maldives as well as their people,” he said.
Ambassador Fukang added that today, the 21st Century Silk Road on Sea that China and Maldives both participated in will connect more firmly and closely the future and development of China and Maldives, China is willing to work together with Maldives to push forward this cooperation, promote the development as well as prosperity of all concerned countries, achieve the overall revitalization of Asia, and further benefit the people of our two countries.
“The construction of Laamu Link Road Project is closely related to the construction of the 21st Century Silk Road on Sea, it will play a very important role and the road will become a wider and wider “Fortune-making Road”,” he said.
