State Trading Organization (STO) will be supplying the materials needed for the construction of a new outer wall 20ft high around Maafushi Prison.
The agreement was signed between STO Managing Director Adam Azim and Commissioner of Prisons Mohamed Husham، in a ceremony held at STO Head Office on Sunday.
STO Managing Director Adam Azim said that STO will provide all the necessary materials and the support to Maldives Correctional Services to finish constructing the wall as soon as possible.
In the ceremony، Commissioner of Prisons Mohamed Husham said the project costs 7 million Rufiya، and STO’s aid covers 4.2 million Rufiyaa. He said the construction of the wall will be done by the prisoners.
In addition، Husham said the construction work has already begun، and the goal of Correctional Service is to finish the part of the wall under construction، before the end of this month.
