Despite being arrested following the opposition’s Mayday protest، Prosecutor General’s Office has decided not to prosecute MDP Chairperson Ali Waheed.
However، PG Office has pressed Adhaalath leader Sheikh Imran Abdulla with terrorism، who was also arrested on the same cause as Ali Waheed – for leading the mass protest on May 1.
Though the case was sent for prosecution on May 20، PG Office withheld the case for further review.
Ali Waheed departed to London، not long after the case was sent for prosecution.
MDP Parliamentary Group leader، MP Ibrahim Mohamed Solih had previously noted that anyone who strongly opposes the government are ‘in fear’ and have to ‘flee abroad’.
