Former President Mohamed Nasheed who is currently serving a 13 year jail sentence has been presented to the Civil Court.
Nasheed was presented to the court for the hearing of the case filed to the Civil Court by his family، stating that visits to Nasheed have been put on halt.
The lawsuit filed by Nasheed’s biological younger brother، Nazim Abdul Sattar، claims that although Correctional Service was allowing family visits to Nasheed once every week since he was transferred to Maafushi Prison، MCS has informed on 8th September that family visits to ex-president Mohamed Nasheed can no longer be entertained.
The lawsuit by Nazim also appealed the Civil Court to order to allow him to meet with his biological elder brother.
Corrections did not present ex-president Nasheed to the court on the latest hearing date which was 12th October، saying that sufficient amount of time was not received.
Correctional Service said that Nasheed was to be presented for the hearing at 12.45 pm and that there was not sufficient time to present Nasheed for the hearing of the case.
